Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Seattle
We overnighted at Port Townsend Boat Haven. We managed to arrive around 6:30 PM and by that time the dog was beside himself needing to walk.
We left the following morning for Seattle in cloudy conditions:
Port Townsend, Washington
Glimpses of the mountains under the cloud cover
The point leading to the Admiralty Inlet
A container ship comes up behind us in Puget Sound
And passes us on our starboard side
Shilshole Marina - Seattle
Lots of sailboat masts - and at least 3 other Island Packets
Seattle Downtown Market
Downtown Seattle - Market
Beach just north of Shilshole Marina
Victoria to Port Townsend
There are no pictures of this leg of the journey. We left Victoria and by Ogden Point, there was thick fog. We turned on the radar and the AIS is always on, so we could see numerous hits in front of us. They turned out to be all manner of runabout all fishing off Ogden Point.
We took up a heading to Port Angeles to clear customs. About half way across, the COHO passed us about a 100 meters off Starboard but we could see nothing. We could certainly hear her and the fog signal she set off every minute under way.
All the way into Port angeles Harbour, nothing but fog and we could not see the Civic Dock until we were practically on top of it. Thanks to MIT for inventing radar.

Second Annual Terratima Open House
Last year when we arrived in Victoria, we had some guests over that were affiliated with my office and our work. We decided to do so again this year and have a second open house. So here is the setting:
The two tall ships in the Inner Harbour
Tourists going out for a tour
Another view of the wooden ships - beautiful!
Our boat in front of the Empress Hotel
Another view of Terratima
yet again
The docks
Fairmont's Empress Hotel
Activities on the waterfront
The BC Legislature Building
The COHO in the background - between Victoria
Port Angeles Washington
Raising the Stantec Burgees
Clients enjoying the afternoon
Good conversation
A great boat for entertaining - Thanks to Netta and Teresa
Oak Bay and Victoria
Leaving Sidney, we had to beat to windward most of the way down the coast deciding to stop in Oak Bay for the evening. We had been noticing anomalies in the wind instrument and did a few tests only to discover that the instrument had not been properly calibrated. So we dug out the manual and went through the calibration process and then all started to make sense between what we observed and what the instrument was telling us.
Conclusion: don't believe everything you see.

Port Sidney Marina...Then Onward
We decided to stay a couple evenings in Port Sidney Marina. It is a marina much favoured by our American friends. There are many US boats here - many of them motor yachts and quite large. They dwarf our sailboat.
We leave tomorrow bound for Victoria. We may stay in Oak Bay or anchor elsewhere if we can find a spot. Then Thursday we go into Victoria.
We did change plans today and will be headed for Port Townsend on Saturday and then on to Seattle to have our diesel heater serviced (properly - because it has not happened up to now).

Bedwell Harbour
After a frustrating attempt to sail upwind, we ended up motoring into Bedwell Harbour to join our friends there. There is something amiss with the forestay jib furler that needs to be investigated a bit to help the boat point higher. In any event, the destination was worth the trip.
Bedwell Harbour - Poet's Cove is just out of sight around the bend to the left
Late afternoon sun and boats moored on the Marine Park buoys
Just clearing up the cockpit
Low sun and the tide coming in
The next day and we ready to depart for Port Sidney Marina
Our friends are already on their way back to Salt Spring
Bit of an overcast day
Poet's Cove Resort
Rounding the point into the Swanson Channel - nice site for a house.
