An Architect Perhaps

Check out the interiors of this yacht:  straight out of Architectural Record

Now if you actually managed to sail into bad weather, that interior turns into a high priced Cusinart.

Amazing Yacht

These yachts just blow me away:  they are enormous and fast.  If only the Royal Navy had one of these in 1795.

Really Scary

OK, it has been 43 years since this group of guys has actually seen and chatted with each other.  We were all in high school together in the same class.

Preparing The Boat

We set out on July 4th for 3 or so weeks sailing the Gulf and San Juan Islands.  Now the toe rail has 3 coats of Cetol and the other teak looking reasonable with teak oil, we will polish up the top sides with a thick coat of wax and reposition the sheets, outhauls and furling lines.

Looking forward to setting sail.

I was reminded of the fact that I had flown for 20 years and no longer do so.  So here are photos of my last outing:

Cruise Time Approaching

We intend to leave our slip on July 4th.  Anchoring in Friday Harbour in the San Juan's would be a nice idea, but we will miss the fireworks in the harbour.  The 2nd and 3rd will be sailing training for our Admiral at the Vancouver Sailing Club:

Basic Keelboat Sailing Standard (ASA101)

Prerequisites: None

General Description: Learn- to- Sail. Students must sail a boat of approximately 24 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. This course is a preparatory Standard with no auxiliary power or navigation skills required.

COMPLETE THE STORY

Hello all.  I must admit to being a bit reticente in completing the story of our trip to Mexico.  It is marred by an incident of mental hea...
