Technical Marine Synopsis

Issued 10:30 AM PST 27 February 2011Today Tonight and Monday

At 10:30 a.m. PST today low 991 mb located near Langara.

By 4:00 a.m. PST Monday weakening low 988 mb located over western

Queen Charlotte Sound.

At 10:30 a.m. PST today building ridge located over northern

BC interior.


Marine Weather Statement

Issued 10:23 AM PST 27 February 2011

A 991 MB low sitting over Langara will slowly drift southwards to

Queen Charlotte Sound by early Monday morning.

South of the low, strong to gale force westerlies will occur today

then continue tonight and tomorrow for most offshore, northern, and

central waters.

A ridge of high pressure building over the British Columbia interior

will combine with the area of low pressure off the British Columbia

coast to produce gale force outflow winds near the mainland inlets of

the north and central coasts. Winds are expected to increase near the

northern coastal inlets beginning this afternoon, then spreading to

the central coast inlets by early Monday morning.

It's abating a bit and the snow has disappeared from the decks but still a bit on the dock.

Christ Church New Zealand

Talked to my daughter in Wellington last night.  She had been planning to go to Christ Church next week.  Needless to say, that won't happen.  I hope all her friends there are all right, but the city is heavily damaged.

Almost Spring

I looked at the blog and could not believe I haven't looked at it since the beginning of January.  Too busy I guess, but I'll try and get to the blog more frequently.
