So we are hunkering down for the next few months, partly due to Covid-19, and partly due to the relentless rain we see here in the Pacific Northwest. We removed all the rigging as you saw in an earlier post, and now we just messenger lines showing.

RIGGING PUT AWAY
We decided that all new rigging would not be in place over the rainy winter only to get moss and other crap on them. So we took them all down and stowed them. We also removed the new sails for the same reason.

STEPPING THE MAST AFTER REFIT
We were without a mast for three weeks. Returning to Steveston, we tied up at the same location nearby the travel lift a we did when the mast was removed. We went to see the mast as it was readied for installation

REFIT OF THE RUNNING AND STANDING RIGGING
In preparing for offshore sailing, we are replacing the running and standing rigging. Here is a few pics and videos of the process of removing the mast. We took the boat to the yard in Steveston, BC to have the rigging done. We left the mast and other items with the rigger and took the boat back (mastless) to our slip. We return in a few days to have the mast stepped.

REINSTALLING AND ADDING SOLAR PANELS
With the wind generator now in place, we looked at how to add the solar panels. We opted for the use of standard bimini fittings with 1" stainless steel tubing.

PREPARATIONS FOR DEPARTURE
As we contemplate leaving for warmer climes, we are readying the boat for our adventure. Currently the tasks include:
- Replacing the MFD (we cannot get charts for our Raymarine C120W)
- Installing the support for the wind generator
- Installing the wind generator and charge controller
- Buying an EPIRB and MOB AIS units
- Buying a 6 person offshore life raft
- Re-rigging the boat. All the cordage is 10 years old and the PNW is not kind to that stuff. Will also check all standing rigging.
